Was there anything about choline? I take choline supplements, but keep finding that it's hard to find kids' supplements with enough.
Nutritional yeast is actually hard to come by outside the US – Germany especially is shitty when it comes to "novelty" food items. Although those Berlin vegans probably have easier access than people anywhere else… But yeah. Just because it is available most places in the US doens't mean it's available most places in other countries.
Even in the UK it can be hard to come by and the UK is loads better when it comes to access to these things.
Too much iodine is toxic. You need some but not too much.
What supplements do you use? I’m having a hard time finding supplements that aren’t super expensive
That calcium intake is actually sufficient. The 1200 (I believe it's 1200) that we are recommended is actually much more than needed.
I love staying for the end talks!
I don't know about everywhere else in Europe, but where I live sea salt is iodized.
Hehe I'm starting to really like your videos I hated them first
Thanks so much!
Guess it’s a good thing I’m addicted to my seaweed snacks then
In both Slovenia and Croatia (EU countries, in both of which the soil is endemically low in iodine, just like in Germany) salt is iodised, SEA salt is iodised, too. You can buy uniodised, though. I guess it's similar in Germany. A lot of iodine from iodised salt gets destroyed during cooking, frying and baking, though.
9:10 I don't know what the hell a systematic review is. I curse my ignorance.
How you get that fat on vegan diet?
Do the B vitamins in Nutritional Yeast survive cooking?
Salt and bread are some good iodised food!
Obviously vegans aren’t having any milk though, which is the biggest iodine supplementation!
Since I eat ~ 80% unprocessed and have cut back on bread I have so drastically reduced my salt intake that I can easily add 1/2 tsp. of iodised salt every day to my cooking plus a nori sheet here and there and I am fine. I get my levels and thyroid tested yearly and my levels have been FINE for years. Same snd no problem with zinc, selenium intake. Regardless how we eat we need to know what we are doing (!) based on our food portfolio. Easy if you track your food for 2-4 weeks then on cronometer or another nutrition tracking app/side. It is not rocket science to figure out how to get what you need from foods without getting bored by broccoli or in trouble by oxalates from too much spinach😉
Edit: I am NOT an advocate for fortifying every food with minerals & vitamins and for sure not with iodine as especially too much of the latter can really mess you up! And to follow Dr. Greger’s Daily dozen is really easy to get sooo well nourished 😎.
What are the objections to taking a multi every day/every other day?
You realize Iodine is in many foods and salt has. And if you like sea weed then there's iodine in that. I like to used both sea salt and others. Everyone go do your research yourself before becoming 100% Vegan. At this point I have for past one years and few months basically almost two years now.
Anyway, everyone there's a lot of peoples sharing meals tips on here that's are really good vegan foods that everyone should try once. It's up to you choose what works for you. Everyone's tastes buds are different and body type sizes are too.
Everyone world wide be safe and hygienic and wear a mask and gloves.
Rip for those that deceased from the virus.
P.s. Tell these Senators to Sigh the stimulus package already…Government??
💛
Asda own brand soy milk is iodide fortified if you live in the UK 😀 cheap and good. Don't drink organic milk coz it's more expensive and less nutritious. Why would you do that?!
Not gonna eat nutritional yeast. It’s nasty. I do eat iodized salt. That was added due to the goiter belt years ago and I think it is a good solution for iodine. Dulce is good too.
Is there a generally recognized "best choice" multi vitamin? I am convinced on picking some up, but I imagine there are a lot of different choices
Virtually most plant milks, at least in the UK have iodine
It s been a week since I started to supplement with iodine and selenium because I suspected myself of hypotyroid and my energy came back and I feel normal now, not tired like all the time. I've been vegan for 6 years and most of this time I struggled with fatigue.
Just why not supplement- anyone who is watching vegan YouTube can likely afford some basic multivitamin.
Cochayuyo, I hope someone will get this
