I wonder if he used the seasoning on the banana blossom too.
Great choice: vegan!!! Thanks!
God Bless whoever did that sound editing, the COMPLETE fullstop everytime ben said something perverted
I am deceased
Ebbers 7:15 "It's kind of been picked up here in the US as a good alternative." WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO THE UNITED STATES?
Why not use tofu?
im British but im sorry, soggy chips are meh. Once you have gone triple cooked you can't go back. I will die on this hill
Alternatively… dont be a pansy and just eat fish and chips
Hate this bullshit how can it be FISH and chips if its not fucking fish, vegan ppl hate meat that much they name all theit meals after meat dishes, why not call it what it is bannana blossom and chips
definitely british. If I ordered fish and chips somewhere here in ky, and the fries came out soggy, I'm shooting up the block
im making this!!!!
A collab with Deliciously Ella would be lush 👌🏼
gonna be honest
if it is fresh, often times fried aubergines could taste better than fried fish.
it is sweet, savory, creemy, soft, and crispy on the outside.
Veganism is fascinating. It's such a privileged approach to food that isn't any better in order to service some guilt complex. Just join a charity – way better cause and it comes with networking.
More vegan food please! X
I would just like to say I appreciate the fact that you guys are using regular vegetables as the meat substitutions. My mom is a vegetarian, but can't have soy, which often eliminates a lot of meat substitutes (as does my coconut allergy since many of them also have coconut oil). I'm glad to see that similar things can be accomplished by just using vegetables. Thank you.
Try frying parasol mushroom , you'd be surprised how meaty that looks and tastes
Wish we here, across the pond, called eggplants "aubergines".
Most commercial beer aren't vegan because they use stabilizers (stops the yeast from reactivating) that are made from fish. However, there is some beer that don't use those stabilizers as they use others that are plant based. Stella Artois (Belgian pilsner style) is one of those vegan beers. It is an American beer, though. I'm not sure if that would make a difference.
What about Aquafaba instead of cashews?
You know you have lived in the West Midlands for years, when you hope you will dip the chips in the batter.
I'm a child of the sixties and we didn't have a lot, so meat of course was too expensive. Nevertheless, my mother always made "Schnitzel" (I am German), BUT: there was no meat, it was aubergine. So what you are doing there is very common to me, I eat aubergine-Schnitzel to this day (actually just made it three days ago). The only thing I recommend is to peel it, salt it and let it sweat for 30 mins (that takes away the bitterness and the skin is hard to eat anyways. For the rest pretty similar to yours, I bread it and fry it in the pan (I use panko for some extra crunch). Bon appetit! By the way this is a popular dish from the former Yugoslavija, where my parents grew up.
As a person who grew up lacto-vegetarian and who has never craved meat, it feels nice to hear Ben talk about celebrating the vegetable and not mimic meat dishes. When I hear vegan chicken, I feel like I'm eaiting meat which actually grosses me out and makes me nauseaus.
Banana blossoms, when they are fresh are actually quite stringy and fibrous. (This is for Ben who was curious)
Fully get what ebbers is trying to say. If you're going vegan then why do you want to replicate a meat product. Celebrate the veg for what they are and don't call it something it's not.
I tried banana blossom fish and chips in London in a place called Sutton and sons my friend is Vegan and tbh I loved i was very surprised and would be happy to eat it again. She also took me for a jack fruit burger and it was lovely aswell would recommend 🙂
I like how the editor slipped up and called it Eggplant once xD
Another thing to try is oyster mushrooms. I love them just cause they taste supper yummy and already have a fishy texture and taste when cooked right. Amazing "fish" tacos that is something my whole family (a mix of Vegans and non vegans) ask me to make all the time!
Man i wish vegans could just make their own things instead of baiting me into watching stuff like this…
England, land of mushy peas and soggy fries 😅
As a Filipino, that's a new way to cook banana blossoms and it's making me want to try it.
I only saw it as garnished in Adobo or cooked as a salad (made like a potato salad)
BTW, wanna try a pass it on with some Iconic filipino dish?
Order will be Overseas travel history.
I have zero interest in going vegan, but a tasty dish is a tasty dish.
I've been bed ridden for 3 days because of gastroenteritis with a high fever and severe loss of appetite feeling crummy, the 8:22 – 8:59 mark moment made me laugh and made me feel a bit better. Never change Ben, never change.
Not vegan but bought a can of banana blossoms because I’m just so curious
Everyone's talking about the banana blossom and Ben, and I'm just here wondering why xanthan gum wasn't explained?? What is it? What does it do? Where can you get it? And can I just leave it out cos I have no idea where I would even find that here..
Please do more banana blossom recipes
Thanks for ruining meatballs for me🥰
i hate veg so much i usually ask them to remove the lettuce and tomatoes from my burger but this vid makes me inspired to try out more veg
Try unripe jackfruit for a meat substitute
I can't believe British people like soggy fries.
I have never heard of banana blossom as a food, and here in Central Florida we grow them and have a good sized Indian and Vietnamese population. I don't like jackfruit so I would be apprehensive about trying it.
Sounds amazing 😍 love vegan food
We cook banana blossoms in coconut milk in filipino cuisine
